Why 80% relative humidity?

Relative humidity is an essential climatic parameter for any crop. Most growers therefore strive to maintain optimum humidity levels, depending on the plants they are growing. The optimum relative humidity set-point for most plants is around 80%. At this level, growth rates are highest for common greenhouse plants. At higher or lower humidity levels, the plant's physiological processes can slow down, resulting in slower growth and lower-quality production. High levels of relative humidity also considerably increase susceptibility to common humidity-related diseases such as botrytis and powdery mildew. Humidity is a climatic parameter that growers need to understand, control and maintain according to their target crops, rather than simply trying to minimize it.

Why 18°C?

Most common greenhouse crops require a temperature of around 18º-24ºC. These temperatures are considered optimal for most common crops, which is why they are found in most greenhouses around the world. Temperatures outside this range would normally result in slowed or arrested growth and sub-optimal crop quality, so growers rarely deviate from them.
